Little Red Dish...

...ahh, I remember Nanny's dressing table. It held several of these plastic colored dishes with lids. Some were solid, some were clear and colored. Each, at one time or another, held different flavored perfumed powders and huge powder puffs...She would hold up each dish and tell me about the "beau" who had given her the powder...and every Valentine's day my grandfather would add to her collection with a new dish of perfumed powder...When the powder was gone, Nanny reused each dish-filling them to the brim with all her baubles and bits...
...and I remember laughing in clouds of luscious floral fragrance and the feel of pearls at my neck...paradise...

What to do with....Inexpensive Small Mix-n-Match Plates & Saucers

Hi Ya'll - I just looooovvvveeee those small mix-n-match plates and saucers.  They have so many uses.  Of course you can hang them on the wall for a really beautiful display (hey, collect all blue and white or all cream colored for a real pop!).  But here are a few more uses for these inexpensive beauties:

*Use as critter food bowls- Fido, Lulu & Isabella will be the talk of the dog park.....

*Use as coasters - At the office they are a lovely place to park your bottle of water, coffee mug or soft drink - they are inexpensive and can be washed when dirty.  And they add a lovely ambiance to your work environment to have a beautiful china dish to gaze upon...

*Use as coasters in your home - Now, I know you have a spot to drink your morning jolt juice and read your fav magazine and/or trashy novel (Hey - I love trashy novels!) - one of these coasters will help to set the mood.  I personally use one on my bedside table for those midnight water sips. Water won't bleed though the china and thus my antique furniture is water-spot free...

*When the plates are more like shallow bowls set they around the house for clutter patrol - they make great landing areas for rings or paperclips, ya know - tiny things...

*A plate full of candles for the bath tub (or bedroom) is a wonderfully romantic luxury - just be sure to watch those flames....

*DIY project...find a plate ya love, glue a small glass candle stick to the bottom with E6000 glue, turn it over and add a little weight (your fav romance novel will do) and in 24 hours - you've got yourself a beautiful raised cake, cookie or candle plate...

See ya soon...
